The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett
I don’t get why this guy is such a successful author. The characters are almost entirely and laughably shallow and one dimensional. The coincidences which occur are utterly unbelievable. The conversations the characters have are unrealistic.
Good authors make the reader suspend their disbelief; in this case the reader must be relied on to suspend his own disbelief without any assistance from the author.
